I first explained the current progress of the project to Adrain and showed him some recent experimental works. Of course, I also raised questions that I was confused about, such as the therapy part mentioned in the previous post.
Salt in my project is actually a symbol of trauma, which can represent the pain from the past. All my forms of salt modification can be a cure. Adrain reminded me to notice the healing function of salt itself. I can't deny that I did not consider the healing function of salt into my project before, because I thought its main healing object is more focused on the body(physical) than on Inner(mental). But after communicating with Adrain, I think I need to do some research on ‘What is salt therapy’. There are many salt therapy centres in London. Adrain suggested that I conduct a field trip and interview. I think this will very interesting and helpful.
"Salt room" also reminds me that in the book "overcome childhood trauma", the trauma patients mentioned Helen mentioned that the trauma patients usually need a space for self-healing during the self-healing process. Of course, the 'space' doesn't mean just keeping the patient at home. Therefore, I think that setting up a salt space can help patients achieve a ‘cure’ effect from both the external and internal aspects.
In addition, we also talked about the problem I encountered when making the salt chain (the salt chain will soften and break due to the problem of air humidity), and Adrain also considered this very narrative, 'move from trauma to healing in the broke of the chain '. This idea is also connected to the meaning of time.
Through the development of the idea of salt chain and salt house, a new point "wearing therapy" was proposed. The idea is to get patients to heal by wearing accessories made by salt.
