Reflecting last year's material experiments, I found that both of them (vanish, corrosion, leaving a trace, growth, covered) are related to the idea of time passing. Therefore, I decided using these effect in my final objects.
At the beginning, I had the idea to make a 24 meter salt chain.
The number ‘24’ is a metaphor for my current life stage. I am 24 years old. Each 1m represents a year, and I hope to symbolize my state through the 24m salt chain. The number seems to be limited, but at the same time it can be infinitely increased, which means that the length of this work will gradually increase with time. When it is increased by one meter, the meaning of life wrapped in it will gradually increase.
Based on the salt chain, I intend to combine the chemical effects of those special salts. For example, different parts of the salt chain are affected by different things. Try to use these forms to symbolize the source of the pain of ‘me’. But Maiko reminded me to notice that when I plan to add different forms to this work, each kind of addition must be rationalized and the reason' why ' must be clearly stated. Indeed, I realized that when I first conceived, I only considered visual effects and did not think about narrative issues, which I needed to reflect on. Therefore, the teacher suggested that I focus on one form and elaborate. This may be more effective than adding several types at the same time
The second idea is to continue the idea of the body of amour in the summer show, as shown in the right of the first picture, continuing to use iron wire, and to use the natural growth phenomenon of salt crystals to combine with iron wires to weave humanoid sculptures of different body sizes and let them use different The posture angle was placed in the exhibition space.
But my positioning of the final show work is always 'wearable sculpture'. I think it should still have a special connection with the human body, that is, I hope that the body can be used as a display space for my work. At the same time, It can also establish physical and spatial connections. Therefore, the second idea is still in the thinking stage.
