Project Concept Part:The feedback from the second-year students and Maiko made me realize that my ability to think about the whole project is very lacking. The expression concept is in the form of coffee cups, rings, and earrings, but I have not expressed why I chose these forms. The initial idea was that because the substance of salt is very normal and cheap, even if it is consumed by humans every day, people often overlook this material. So I want to use some of the forms that people use every day, making them with salt to remind people of the importance of salt. In London, most people hold a cup of coffee when they walk on the street. I think this is very interesting. But now I realize that this reason is not enough. I have not conducted any in-depth investigation, such as some context of coffee cups. Also, the form of the exhibition is an item that allows me to reflect. To make the display of the items better, I chose to use grey cardboard as the background, but I did not consider why it must be grey and why it is paper, because the use of colour and materials may affect the audience‘s idea when they watching your work. Indeed, in this exhibition, they appear to be in two different directions, but I still think that making them is not a wrong choice, they give me so much feedback and make me aware of my shortcomings.
Material Part:Regarding materials, I don't know my conceptual ideas, on the other hand, because my understanding of this material is not deep enough. I have not done enough research to explain the whole concept well, which makes me more subjective. For example, when I was doing jewellery series, I chose brass because I was good at using brass, so I didn't try other materials. Through this exhibition opportunity, I realised that I need to consider more and use more materials to test more possibilities. I hope that I can make better work after broadening the research on this material.
